Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

ARTICLE WRITING GUIDELINES

Type of article

  • Original Research or Meta-Analyses
  • Case Report
  • Review article (systematic review or narrative review)

Article Format
Article is written in  English language, typed using common word processing software such as Microsoft Word (doc/docx) in the following format:

  • Page size: A4
  • Page margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
  • Page format: 2 columns, except for the abstract part
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Character size: 10 pt (including title page, abstract, content)
  • Line spacing: 5 lines (including title page, abstract, content)

Title

  • Character size: 12 pt
  • Line spacing: 15
  • Article title does not exceed 20 words
  • Written in full with no abbreviation
  • Use bold capital letters
  • Foreign words written in italic

Author’s name

  • Author’s name is written under the title without academic degree
  • Put numbers after author names for affiliation information
  • Affiliation details (department, institute and full address) are provided in footnote

Abstract and Keyword

  • Abstract formatting: Italic
  • Line spacing: 1.15
  • Abstract is written on the first page under the author’s names
  • Maximum length for abstract between 200-300 words
  • The Abstract with headings is required for Original Research, Meta-Analyses, Systematic Review and Case Report. The Text Abstract should be structured using the following headings: Background, Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusions, or modify according to the provided template.
  • The Abstract without headings or unstructured is required for Narrative Review Article types only. The Text Abstract should be stressing clinical implications, summarizing what is being discussed, why it is being discussed and a summary of the discussion.
  • Keywords are limited to 1-5 words. These should be given beneath the Abstract. A semicolon should separate each word/phrase in the keywords section (;).

Content

  • The body of the article starts on a new page.
  • Original Research and Meta-Analysis: Must not exceed 7000 words for the main text (excluding references, tables, and figure legends) and the article should contain no more than 30 references. The content body covers Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion.
  • Case Report: A case report is limited to 2500 words, a maximum of 5 tables and figures (total), and up to 20 references. The content body covers Introduction, Case Illustration, Discussion, and Conclusion.
  • Review Article (Systematic Review or Narrative Review): Must not exceed 5000 words for the main text (excluding references, tables, and figure legends) and the minimal number of references should be 30. The content body covers Introduction, Main Body (organised into subheadings), and Conclusion.
  • Abbreviations must be explained the first time it is used, written in brackets
  • Units used must be based on the International System of Units, or also known as the metric system

Tables and Figures

  • Character size: 9 pt (applies to content in tables, figures, and their captions).
  • Line spacing: Single
  • All tables and figures should be separated from the text. Tables should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.docx) and completed with figure legend. Figures should be submitted in TIFF or JPEG format with clear captions.
  • Table caption is written above the table, describing content of the table.
  • Abbreviation that were used in the table is explained below the table.
  • Figures must be clearly legible with figure caption written below.
  • Figure/table source must be cited in the section that explains the figure/table.
  • Figure/table numbering use Arabic numbers.
  • Figure/table reference must be written underneath.
  • Figure/table does not use colour (use greyscale).

Acknowledgement

  • It is imperative to recognize any entity (individual, corporation, or institution) that has made a significant contribution to the investigation of significant intellectual Only individuals who have made substantial contributions to the study should be acknowledged.
  • Acknowledgement is written at the end of the text, before reference list.

Reference List

  • Character size: 8 pt
  • Line spacing: Single
  • Cite references in numerical order according to the first mention in the text. Prior to submitting the manuscript, ensure the accuracy of spelling and details of publication.
  • Reference list uses Vancouver system. Abbreviation of journal names follows the List of Journal Indexed in Index Medicus. Maximum number of authors listed is 6, the rest should be written as et al.
  • We encourage the use of Reference Management Tools such as Mendeley, EndNote, and Zotero.
  • The accuracy of reference data is the responsibility of the author.
