Ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure can trigger free radicals that damage facial skin. Pumpkin peel (Cucurbita moschata Duch.) contains flavonoids with high antioxidant activity to counteract these free radicals. One of the practical topical preparations used is a peel-off gel mask. This study aims to determine the effect of varying carbopol concentrations on the physical properties of pumpkin peel extract peel-off gel masks and to identify the best concentration that meets the requirements for physical property tests. This experimental research used a maceration extraction method with 96% ethanol solvent. The preparation was made into three formulas with carbopol variations of FI (0,5%), FII (0,7%), and FIII (0,9%). The physical property tests conducted included organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability, adhesion, and drying time. The results showed that increasing carbopol concentration significantly increased the viscosity, adhesion, and drying time of the preparation but decreased the pH and spreadability. Based on the test results, FI and FII met all the physical property requirements for the preparation, while FIII was declared not to meet the requirements for viscosity, spreadability, and drying time tests due to its overly thick consistency. Variations in carbopol concentration were proven to influence the physical properties of the peel-off gel mask preparation. The best concentrations that can be used to produce a preparation with stable and qualified physical properties are FI (0.5%) and FII (0.7%).
